March 4 marked 30 years since the day I was hired at the Record-Courier.

In a political climate marked by increasing discord, most Portage County residents have opted out, at least for primary polling.

The big eclipse is coming, and that means more than temporary darkness.

With my time here, I want to focus on and draw attention to the people that make Portage County special — this week, specifically, those helping folks who face the challenge of having nowhere to call a home of their own.

Main Street Ravenna, in collaboration with Ravenna High School’s Civics class, will host the newly created JoJo Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. April 26 in downtown Ravenna.

Kent City Council has so far decided not to decide how many people should populate each of the city’s six wards, and recently pulled a ballot measure that would have instead let voters make that decision.

Streetsboro City Council on Feb. 26 approved a $6,495 contract with Rock The House Entertainment Group to provide a temporary stage for this year’s Streetsboro Family Days celebration. The previous stage was dismantled about five years ago when it fell into disrepair.
