Aurora City Council on Sept. 9 approved an immediate ban on camping on public property, including streets, sidewalks, easements, parks, parking lots, public grounds and public right of ways.

The city’s planning commission on Sept. 10 greenlighted Woodside’s proposal to add 62 RV camping sites, a central green with a fire pit and seven parking spaces near a planned playground and pavilion with a grilling area.

Dave and I just had the best yard-saling weekend ever. Yard-saling involves yard/garage sales (good), estate sales (better) and rummage sales (best). We’ve gotten some great finds at yard/garage sales, but with estate sales, everything in the whole house is for sale and rummage sales are that on a giant scale.

Rootstown’s Alexia Van Snick was first introduced to baseball when her uncle gave her a tee-ball set when she was 4. Her love for the game snowballed from there.

Unable to believe what she was seeing, Ravenna resident Tracy Smith de Sedas turned to social media on Aug. 3 and 17, posting pictures and videos of the flood water rising in the basement of her Myrtle Street home.

It’s final harvest time at Kent’s Thomas-Anderson Memorial Garden, which provides bounty to dozens of volunteers, the community at large and Kent Social Services.

Congratulations to the Field Falcon football team on its 14-12 win over the Mogadore Wildcats on Aug. 23. This victory was monumental due to no Falcons win over the Wildcats since 2004.

Ed Limbach was five when his mom and dad took him to see the circus for the first time: the Cole Bros. Circus in Northeast Ohio. They got there early to see the crew unload the animals and equipment from the train and eventually pitch the big top.

A few years back, I saw a comic strip that made me laugh out loud. It showed a person sneaking in the dark of the night to leave zucchini on his neighbor’s porch. The neighbor suddenly opens his door, rifle in hand, demanding that the man step away from his porch, take his zucchini and move on. If you have considered doing this with your excess garden produce, there is a better solution.
