Portage Park District to expand amenities with new Tinker’s Creek Greenway acquisition

The Portage Park District recently acquired a 112-acre parcel on Seasons Road in Streetsboro as Phase III of its Tinker’s Creek Greenway initiative. Its Phase I and II acquisitions were used to create Trail Lake Park, located south of the new property and adjacent to Herrick Fen State Nature Preserve.

Preliminary plans for the Phase III parcel include parking, hiking trails, restrooms and other low-impact amenities. Major restoration work is planned for at least the next year. The property will remain a preserve (not available to the public) during the restoration and planning process. The public can tour the property and provide site planning suggestions through staff-guided “preserve peeks” that can be found on the Things To Do page at portageparkdistrict.org.
