- Letter to the editor

Portage County Retired Teachers has granted four $2,000 scholarships to aspiring teachers.

Adam Beery, a Rootstown High School graduate, will attend Ohio University and major in education with a concentration in integrated science. He participated in baseball, basketball and football. He hopes to coach and make the same kind of positive impact as his mentors have made on him. His guidance counselor defined his best qualities as “leader, focused, intelligent and kind.” A coach says, “he is a young man of character, intelligence and talent.”
