Around Charlestown: Santa Claus is comin’ to [Charles]town

- Ruth Ann Bartholomew

Santa Claus made his annual Special Delivery appearance through Charlestown this month. One of his stops was at the home of Todd and Suzanne Hurd. We all know that Santa is magical, so he knew that all 10 of their grandchildren would be visiting. Accompanied by Mrs. Claus and Elf Kerri, Santa had a gift for each child. The children, ranging in age from 6 months to 13 years old, had an exciting visit with Santa. He then continued his trip around Charlestown, chauffeured by the Charlestown Fire Department. After making 17 stops, Santa was very tired and returned to the North Pole to rest up for Christmas Eve.

Charlestown United Methodist Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24. The service will be filled with favorite Christmas music, a kid-friendly retelling of the Christmas Story and the beloved tradition of singing “Silent Night” by candlelight. The message will contain clues to how Christmas can bring transforming joy, hope and peace to every life! Located at 6408 Rock Spring Rd., the church invites and welcomes everyone!
