Around Charlestown: Eclipse party and more recaps from the early days of spring

- Ruth Ann Bartholomew

What do you do when a once in a lifetime event is happening? You plan a party, right? That’s exactly what I did! An eclipse party! I asked my daughter, Erin and son-in-law, Joe to host the party because their deck provided the perfect unrestricted view of the sun. In all, there were 20 good friends and family members there to enjoy lunch and witness the eclipse, one that won’t happen in Ohio again until 2099.

During the totality the dusk to dawn lights came on around the neighborhood, there was no traffic and the birds were quiet. We were able to see Venus and Jupiter and the awesome flare of bright light. All agreed that it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
