Local nonprofits AxessPointe Community Health Centers and Family & Community Services have announced a merger between the two health-centered organizations, forming a partnership that is designed to enhance access to comprehensive healthcare, behavioral healthcare and social services across Portage, Summit, Trumbull and Mahoning counties. The merger took effect Jan. 1.

The Mantua Township “Historic District Boundary Increase” has been approved and is now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

After ongoing discussion, the trustees voted to meet monthly instead of bi-monthly for 2024. They will meet again Jan. 17 to better prepare for monthly meetings.

Resolution 2024-01 was adopted without community comment, adding 80 acres to the current agreement between the township and the City of Streetsboro.

Fiscal Officer Jennifer Derthick was unable to attend the meeting after recently suffering two heart attacks. Derthick reported hiring two assistants to serve in her stead at the rate of $20 per hour.

The board voted to appoint Mary Kaley as president pro tem from Jan. 1-Jan. 8 of 2024.
