Students of Southeast High School recently volunteered at Edinburg Cemetery with the Edinburg Ohio Historical Society and Edinburg Park Committee. The students all did a great job and were interested in learning about the founding families and veterans of Edinburg Township. Thank you to Julia Dillon and the student volunteers.

Shaffer Bish had the only new business. A resident contacted her regarding a beer-pong table that has become what she called “a fixture” in her neighbor’s yard. Shaffer Bish asked council to take up the item as a potential code issue in a future committee meeting. All members voted yes to move this concern forward.

The Portage County Board of Commissioners let Meyer know that they were working with Congressman Dave Joyce to secure funds in the federal 2027 appropriation budget for the public water system rehabilitation project in the village. 

On May 13, Ravenna Township Trustee Vince Coia and staff from the Portage County Engineer’s Office attended a virtual meeting with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to discuss some troubled intersections that travel through the township.

After the Kent City School District was informed that a student was suspected of having a gun and Longcoy Elementary School was placed under lockdown, the police are investigating the situation.
